02The skill library · a proposal

One skill corpus. Two kinds of learners.

Experts are to record calibrated skill capsules. People are to practise against them with the band and a phone camera. Humanoids are to learn from the same capsules in simulation. No capsule is recorded, nothing is offered for sale and no price is announced. Cr4dle is a non-commercial research programme now, and the sale and royalty terms below are a plan for a later phase (ADR-0136).
01The skill capsule

A skill, to be recorded.
Calibrated and versioned.

A capsule is to be a consented, calibrated and versioned recording of the physical skill of an expert. It is to hold what video alone does not: the contact force of each finger, on the same clock as the motion.

  1. Motion and timing.

Hand, wrist and body motion on one clock, divided into the phases of the skill, so that an attempt can be compared with the expert phase by phase.

  2. Contact force.

Per-finger contact force from the bare-hand kit, with the error of each label printed on the capsule card, as a number or as not run with a dated gate.

  3. Gaze and provenance.

The gaze target when it matters to the skill, the consent record, the version and the licence terms of the expert who recorded it.

02First categories · proposed

Three proposed
skills.

Each proposed skill needs contact force. Kitchen knife work comes first, a keyboard passage second and a golf putt third, because the band and a phone are to measure them. A nail module can join a later revision of Ember only if its own bet passes. A basketball shot waits for foot insoles and the glasses in the kit.

  1. Household manipulation

    Kitchen knife work

Grip, cut and hold: contact force on a tool and on food, which is also data that robots in homes need.

  2. Fine finger force

    A keyboard passage

How hard and when each finger presses, which video of the hands alone does not show. A keyboard also records the note timing and the key force.

  3. Sport

    A golf putt

A short arm and shoulder stroke: the timing of the backswing and the stroke, and the grip force of each finger on the putter.

03For experts

Your skill.
Your capsule.

  1. The expert is to own the capsule.

A capsule is to be the expert's recording. Cr4dle is to license it under the terms that the expert sets, and the expert is to be able to withdraw consent. A withdrawn capsule is not to be sold or exported again.

  2. Each sale is to pay a royalty.

Each capsule purchase is to pay the expert a royalty share. The share and the terms are not announced.

04For learners

Practise against
an expert.

  1. One purchase, no subscription.

A learner is to buy a capsule once, with no subscription. The band is to be a separate hardware purchase after its gate. No price is announced.

  2. Practise with the band and a phone.

The system is to align each attempt with the expert by phase, score timing and motion, and give cues on screen and by sound. A contact score without a calibration block is to be an uncalibrated estimate. A cue is a practice aid only.

  3. Share your progress, if you choose.

A learner is to be able to opt in to share practice sessions: the path from first attempt to skill, with errors and corrections. Only features are to leave the device, the choice is to be revocable, and a learner whose sessions are in a licence is to be able to opt in to a data dividend, a data-licence fee. The dividend is a proposal that waits for ADR-0133 (proposed).

05Humanoid learners · research

The same capsules.
A different body.

The same capsules are to be retargeted to humanoid bodies through action-space adapters, in a simulation twin first. A skill model is to give the motion and contact plan for a goal, and the path of corrections that learners take.

This is research. Each humanoid score is to be a simulation result, labelled so. No robot body is bought. We are to replicate published retargeting work before we state a result.

06Dated bets

Each part
can be stopped.

Each part of the library is a proposed bet with a dated kill criterion, published either way. For example, the learner part stops if capsule practice with cues does not beat video-only practice in a randomized pilot.
