A little more clarity.
Can I buy a Cr4dle device today?
Not yet, and the product is not a device. What is planned for a later phase: collections of consented, labelled episodes on your task (quoted per usable demonstration), the kit licence so your own demonstrators produce them, and dataset licences — each behind its dated gate. Cr4dle is a non-commercial research programme now, and nothing is offered for sale today. Ember is the one band Cr4dle plans to build. Its build gate is Q2 2027, and the build needs three paid collections on bought bands, so it waits on the decision that replaces ADR-0136. Lens is a bought device used as shipped. You can request development updates by email.
Availability & accessWhat does the kit record?
Five labelled channels, one of them planned, on the same clock as the egocentric video: per-finger contact force from an sEMG/IMU band after a 15-minute calibration, the gaze target from the glasses (a point on the scene camera, when a buyer names gaze (a rule for a later phase, ADR-0136)), the hand pose estimated on the hub from the camera frame before redaction (only the coordinates leave; the frame itself never leaves unredacted), the head pose (head pose is planned, because the reference estimator gives no measured head pose), and a demonstrator-state column naming fatigue and safety-relevant physical states, one value per frame. Each carries a label-validity spec: how it is grounded, on whom it is validated, and by when. Beside them an episode carries the windowed sEMG feature vector behind the force estimate, never a raw sample window, and the redacted video itself (monochrome today: faces and certified bystanders blurred, audio never captured).
Read the scienceWhat is a dataset card?
Every exported dataset prints its sync error (p50, p95, max), participant and episode counts, held-out-user force error, discard counts by reason and what was redacted, together with the consent lineage. A number that has not been measured yet is printed as not run, with the dated gate by which it is due.
The recording pathWhat format do I receive, and what does the licence say?
LeRobot v2.1 today: one parquet file per episode with per-frame observation columns (hand and head pose, gaze target, per-finger contact force and its confidence, the sEMG feature vector, demonstrator state), the redacted video, and meta/dataset_card.json. LeRobot v3.0, the GR00T modality layout and RLDS are named as plans and refused by the exporter until a writer exists. A pilot licence names the dataset, the release and the object hashes, permits only purposes no broader than the participants' consent, and carries a revocation duty. Pricing is not announced. Cr4dle is a non-commercial research programme now (ADR-0136), so no sale occurs, and no list price exists.
What you receiveDoes it read thoughts, moods or mental states?
No. The channels are physical: force, gaze target, pose, and fatigue or safety-relevant physical state. Nothing claims to interpret thoughts, memories, dreams or emotions, and physiology such as EEG, EDA or heart rate is a recorded research column, never a product.
Understand the boundariesWhere does device data go?
Raw neural signal, sEMG and gaze never leave the device; they leave only as features. Video and the poses derived from it leave only after on-device redaction of faces and bystanders, under consent that is checked at capture and again at export, with revocation. A production cloud service is not available on this site.
Data & privacyWhat are Lumen and Crown?
Lumen and Crown are EEG research tiers: bounded, paid research sessions on bought equipment registered before the session (none is registered today), recording research-only columns beside the kit. Their registry status is research; no patch or headband is built, and nothing they record is a product. The invasive families are kept as reference code only, with no clinical offering.
Families kept as referenceIs Cr4dle a medical product?
No. The capture kit and its datasets are robot-training data tooling for people demonstrating tasks at work, not diagnosis or treatment. The clinical research families in the repository are reference code, not available medical products or evidence of a clinical deployment.
See the familiesCan I try the software without hardware?
Yes. The repository's `make demo` records a synthetic session on the simulator, prints the measured sync error, exports a LeRobot-format episode through the consent gate and validates the dataset card. It shows the shape of every artefact; it is not a substitute for a collection on real sensors.

You choose a family, review a draft and open it in your own email app. Nothing is sent or stored by this site. You must send the email yourself. The request does not reserve a device or a collection.
